WMP is involved in a three-year commitment to the villages of Kuil district, Helambu. Many of the districts remote health posts were damaged or collapsed in 2015 and WMP teams have been providing a medical camp every 8- 12 weeks to assist.
During these village stays the WMP teams facilitate a medical camp for any villagers who require assistance and run concurrent training programs to up-skill the local health volunteers. This phase also provides an opportunity for wild medics to engage in village activities, visit and work in the village school and engage with the local youth committee to organise health related activities.
These are community engagement activities and as such, are community driven. Occasionally the camps will be in conjunction with a specialist team visiting through our in-country partnerships. These specialist teams can include but not limited to dental teams, obstetric specialist, optometrist, cardiologist and pediatricians and are another ideal time for our wild medics to gain valuable exposure in a different aspect of health care.
